Skibbereen Chartered Physiotherapy Clinic is run by Sarah O’Mahony.
A keen interest in sport lead to Sarah’s, intrigue in Physiotherapy. Being a member of the, now very well known, Skibbereen Rowing Club, required a level of training that would lead to overuse injuries, and that’s how it all began.
‘Personally, the experience of building a lasting relationship with a Physiotherapist, one that you can trust will know your history and support you on the road to recovery, is vital and is something I advocate in my practice. Over the years, this love for helping others to better manage their own bodies and weaknesses has only grown.’
Sarah obtained a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary in 2011. Allowing her to become a member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP). Immediately after graduating she began her career in a very busy Private Practice in Bandon, Cork.
Keen to continuously improve, Sarah obtained her Masters of Applying Physiotherapy from Sheffield Hallam University, Sheffield, UK in 2013. She then completed a Dry Myofascial Needling course in the same year. Immediately returning to run a Private Practice in West Clare for the next 3 years and providing Primary care for the patients at Cahercalla Hospital, Ennis. This gave her great insight into the necessary devotion and care required to run a Private clinic. Already qualified in on-field First Aid and Kinesiology Taping allowed Sarah to also be the team Physiotherapist for Kilrush Shamrocks GAA.
Providing a local service for the people of West Cork has been a goal for many years and drew Sarah home to West Cork.
